General key skills Organisational skills Communication skills Leadership skills The ability to organise and manage a busy clinical practice The ability to manage and lead a medical firm Management training Main Duties/Responsibilities As a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery you will: Share with colleagues on-call responsibility for the department including responding to unexpected absences. Undertake specific management functions, as agreed with the Lead Consultant, in the running of the department. Attend departmental Head & Neck business meetings arranged at monthly intervals. Ensure, wherever possible, that clinical practice is standardised and evidence-based. Provide management of in-patients including ward rounds at weekends when on-call. Together with fellow consultant colleagues, assist with the clinical supervision of all staff working in the department in addition to the organisation and delegation of clinical work within the department. Manage clinical and non-clinical complaints in accordance with the Trust policies with particular emphasis on timescales and local resolution. Adhere to Trust policy with regards to waiting list management and facilitate the delivery of the various KPIs associated. Understand and respond to activity targets under Payment by Results and risk share agreements (PbR).
