Experience
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Surgery specialty. Experience working at Consultant or Specialist level within a multidisciplinary team. Minimum 5 years experience working in oral surgery including independent GA working. Should have significant minor Surgery procedures experience and any other postgraduate qualifications that can advance the department needs would be preferable. Research, Teaching and Audit
Research academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications. Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff. Experience of participation in regular clinical audit, and ability to organise and present audit. Broad experience of medical research and presentations at national or regional conferences. Experience of supervising research by junior staff. Completion of Education Supervisor training. Experience of supporting Nursing Staff in development and training. Qualifications
Membership in Oral Surgery (MOralSurg) or equivalent. Registered with the General Dental Council and hold a Licence to Practise. Specialist registration for Surgery (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration. Diploma in Conscious sedation. Postgraduate qualification in medical education. Management and Interpersonal Skills
Understanding of current NHS issues and efficient management of resources. Organisation and time management skills. Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions. Ability to work in a team. Ability to create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships. Willingness to work flexibly to deliver clinically effective and cost-effective healthcare.
