Applications are invited for the post of substantive Consultant in Paediatric Oncology with Palliative Care Interest (10 PAs) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH), to commence from 24 March 2025. Main duties of the job

The successful applicant for this post will join the established team of 4 full-time Paediatric Oncologists (including this post) and two University Professors, together with three Paediatric Haematologists and one Palliative Care Consultant, in providing a tertiary service to children in the East of England Region. There are strong academic links available for cancer research in Cambridge, through the Biomedical Research Centre, MRC and CRUK Cambridge Centre, as well as through academic departments within the University. Applicants should have general paediatric experience together with specific paediatric oncology training. Experience and/or training in paediatric palliative care is desirable. You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Paediatric Oncology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). The Cambridge Paediatric Haematology, Oncology, and BMT Centre is one of the larger Primary Treatment Centres in the UK and currently receives around 150 new referrals per year for childhood malignancy, treated within a purpose-built unit at Addenbrookes Hospital. Most related specialties, including laboratory services, radiotherapy, paediatric intensive care, and paediatric neurosurgery are available on site.
