NJC Grade H8 SCP 67-73 £79,201 - £85,868 per annum (This post is eligible for a Market Forces Supplement (MFS) of up to £10.5k pa, which would be paid on top of the normal salary for the grade of this point. Blackpool is now in the third year of the prestigious National Institute of Health Research's, Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) project - one of the initial 10 such awards made across the country. The project is delivering an innovative programme of research and capacity building activities that will support Blackpool to become fully research active. Our highly innovative community co-research model puts the Blackpool community at the heart of our work and overall ambition of addressing the unacceptable health inequalities in our town. Blackpool Council, as the lead organisation, works alongside Lancaster University, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, a range of community partners and crucially, our residents, as equal partners in this ambitious and ground breaking project. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced

Consultant in Public Health

to provide public health expertise to the HDRC programme. The post holder, working with the HDRC team and alongside the Director of Public Health and other consultant colleagues, will lead on research and evaluation, on accessing and using evidence to address health inequalities in Blackpool and on liaison with the wider regional and national research system. The successful applicant will be responsible for the public health focused strategic objectives of the local authority and the Health and Wellbeing Board. They will act as a change agent to enable the transformation of systems and policies to improve health inequalities in the priority areas of housing, mental health, skills and employment and conception to age 2. Further areas of work covering Public Health professional practice in Health Improvement and Health Intelligence can also be negotiated according to the needs of the department and the skills, knowledge and interests of the successful candidate. The post holder will be expected to work across organisations, be able to influence budgets held by those organisations as well as advocate for change effectively.
