NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. Applications are welcome for the above permanent Respiratory Consultant post within the department of Respiratory Medicine based within Inverclyde Royal Hospital. The Respiratory department is closely linked to the wider Respiratory team based across the Clyde Sector (including The Royal Alexandra and The Vale of Leven Hospitals). In total the team comprises of 9.5 WTE Consultants across the Clyde Sector. The Clyde Sector team provides a general Respiratory Service as well as access to several sub-specialties including medical thoracoscopy, severe asthma, interstitial and pleural disease. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated team at IRH and to steer and influence the future design and direction of the service. This is a 10 programmed activity (10 PA) Consultant post. There is a degree of flexibility in this role in relation to specialist interests, including clinicians who are seeking to integrate academic or research opportunities within the PA sessions. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to the leadership, delivery and development of respiratory services. This post is to enhance the care of patients with respiratory diseases in Inverclyde and develop the expansion of the service with the option of providing additional in-reach into the High Dependency Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the IRH consultant medical receiving rota. Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice, FRCA (or equivalent) and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. The job plan is designed for a full-time post, and there may be the opportunity to negotiate job plans.
