We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Rheumatology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.

Our client's Rheumatology Unit has 5 consultants and 4 clinical nurse specialists. Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy support services are based at our main site and offer out-patient services at both sites. Rheumatology Podiatry services are based in the community. There is access to imaging, fluoroscopy and a wide range of ultrasound including MSK with interventions. These services include plain film X-ray, CT & MRI scanning, musculoskeletal and general ultrasound and bone density scanning. There is an administration team who run the monitoring service and Software (Therapy Audit Monitor) for patients on disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs and biologics.

The successful appointee will be asked to undertake various duties within the department, including: Undertaking out-patient clinics at our client's main site. Administrative duties directly associated with the care of patients and the running of clinics. Opportunity to develop a specialist interest within the department. Supervision of patients receiving day case infusions. Seeing ward referrals from other teams. Clinical supervisor for trainee doctors and nurse specialists. Involvement in departmental teaching of trainees and other health professionals. Involvement in teaching of undergraduate medical students. Active participation in Audit and Clinical Governance.
