We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Stroke Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Stroke Department.
Our client provides hyper acute stroke service at their main site. They have a combined stroke unit and provide high and low risk TIA clinics in the Evergreen unit. We take part in SSNAP audit and our management is very supportive of our services. They work very well with our key stakeholders (ED, Radiology, and site team). They have access to CT head and CTA 24/7. The out of hours stroke thrombolysis is provided by telemedicine from home, where they are part of the West Kent regional on call rota for out of hours. They have a weekly neuroradiology meeting at DVH and a monthly West Kent Thrombolysis Governance meeting where thrombolysed and interesting cases are discussed. We have a weekly carotid MDM with the vascular team at one of the sites and bimonthly thrombosis meetings with their haematologists. In addition, they have biweekly SSNAP meetings to monitor our progress and monthly M&M meetings, and they are in various stages of getting portfolio research studies restarted.
The post holder will be expected to participate in audit, teaching of undergraduates, postgraduates, nursing, and allied health professionals. There is an excellent postgraduate medical centre at the main site, which provides lecture and tutorial rooms and a dining room. There are good modern audio-visual facilities and an internal video link connecting the DCU and main theatres with the PGC. Numerous meetings for hospital doctors and General Practitioners are held at the centre.
Our client offers the best of both worlds, with the attractions of big cities, attractive market towns, and villages, all within easy travelling distance and excellent transport links to big cities such as London, along with 2 highly touted international airports.
