We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Interventional Radiologist to join our friendly team here at Dorset County Hospital. Do you have a specialist interest in Interventional Radiology? If so, we are looking for you! The ideal candidate is an IR with a wide range of procedural skills covering both vascular and non-vascular IR, and who would like to work in a friendly medium-sized Foundation Trust in a beautiful part of the country, where a healthy work/life balance can be achieved. You will be involved in providing a first-class standard of care to your patients, whilst further developing the IR service. The post holder will join a cohesive group of 12 substantive consultant radiologists and radiology trainees from the Wessex Training Scheme. If you reside outside of Dorset and join us in this role you will receive a Warm Welcome payment of £10,000 as a thank you for bringing your expertise and knowledge to our Trust in addition to the usual relocation expenses. Main duties of the job

The Interventional Radiology Department at Dorset County Hospital is progressive and patient-outcome focused. We have a very close and dynamic relationship with our referring teams from all over the hospital. The IR department currently consists of 3 WTE Consultants, and this post replaces a colleague who is retiring. A weekly timetable will include 3-4 sessions of IR with internal cover for annual leave, together with some reporting sessions which can be tailored to individual experience and specialist interests. Attendance at appropriate MDTs that complement specialist interests is strongly encouraged. There is no out of hours IR on site. We have outsourced all out of hours CT (20:00 - 09:00 weekdays and 17:00-09:00 weekends) to an external reporting company. The post holder will be expected when on-call to cover non IR emergencies until 20:00 weekdays, and between 09:00-17:00 when on-call at the weekend as part of the on-call rota which is currently a 1:11 with internal cover. The post attracts 10 PAs in total, which includes on-call and 1.5 SPAs for research, CPD, audit and appraisal/revalidation preparation. Person Specification

Education and Training

Full GMC Registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via; CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR or European Community Rights Experience & Knowledge

Evidence of the ability to manage the demands of being a DGH based consultant radiologist Experience of working within the NHS Current Skills & Abilities

Broad interventional radiology skill set appropriate for the post Experience in a broad range of US, CT and MR examinations Evidence of the clinical skills required to fulfill the specialty and sub-specialty elements of the job as in the job description and technical specification Team Working & Service Development

Evidence of recent collaborative working in a service development or improvement Understanding and Participation in Clinical Governance

Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance Evidence of participation in recent relevant audit Management Training, Organisational Skills & Strategic Vision

Evidence of management experience Teaching and Communication

Evidence of teaching experience Disclosure and Barring Service Check
