Job Summary You would be joining a team of 24 nephrologists with a wide range of clinical and research interests working out of the regional renal unit based at St Helier, providing renal care throughout South London and Surrey. Based at St Helier Hospital with two days a week spent providing outreach general nephrology clinics, including a weekly clinic and renal advice at Royal Surrey Hospital, including a weekly advanced kidney care clinic and multidisciplinary team meeting, and providing care for a cohort of haemodialysis patients based at Sutton Satellite Unit. All the nephrology consultants based at St Helier contribute to care of renal inpatients, with a hot week, currently every six weeks. The appointee would also be required to carry out ward-rounds at the weekend on the same basis and be available for one in 12 nights on call from home. The job plan has SPAs allocated for revalidation, appraisal, audit and CPD time. In addition, there is a further SPA time allocated for the new consultant to become involved in educational supervision of the renal middle grade doctors or in supporting them in carrying out renal procedures. The job plan enables time to attend unit histopathology meetings, seminars, grand rounds and journal clubs and we are supportive of the postholder developing their own interest in association with the needs of the unit. The role is a substantive 10 PA post and has been approved by the RCP. About Us Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust offers an extensive range of services, including cancer, pathology, surgery, and gynaecology to over 490,000 people in south west London and north east Surrey. We operate two busy general hospitals, Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, and run services from other locations, including Sutton Hospital. St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals have Accident and Emergency departments (A&E) and Maternity services (Obstetrics). Job Responsibilities This is a 10 PA locum post.
