This is a full-time Resident Consultant post in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. It is a replacement post and attracts 10 Programmed Activities including a Tuesday night resident on call once a week and 1:9 daytime weekends. The duties include Gynaecology and Ante-natal outpatient clinics, special interest clinics, operating sessions, and labour ward cover. The post holder will be expected to assist the gynaecology cancer lead in the running of Gynaecology Cancer MDT meetings, two-week wait clinics, and early-stage cancer operative treatment where these have been devolved by the regional centre for local treatment. It is expected that you will not be covering services on other sites or in private practice when on call. Application for this substantive post will only be accepted if you are in the process of obtaining your CCT/CSER within six months of interview. Interview date is to be confirmed early 2025. You will be an experienced gynaecological surgeon with expertise in minimal access surgery and treatment of acute Gynaecological emergencies. The post will attract 10 Programmed Activities per week including a resident on call once a week and a 1:9 share of daytime weekends. We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. Education & Qualifications

Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC ATSM acute gynaecology and early pregnancy Experience

Experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT Active involvement in clinical audit Experience of contributing to requirements for CNST or other external regulators Skills, ability and knowledge

Sound understanding of risk management Ability to draw on evidence to contribute to departmental guidelines IT and presentation skills Personal Qualities
