An opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time (10 PA), Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to join our innovative department at an exciting time in our Trust future.The clinical team consists of three Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons, one Associate Specialists, one Breast Advanced Nurse Practitioner and six Specialist Nurses, which work closely alongside the radiology team.The Breast service offers a one stop diagnostic breast clinic five times a week with potentially adding another clinic in the future based at St Luke's Hospital site. Theatre capacity for breast surgical intervention is offered at Bradford Royal Infirmary for inpatients and complex surgical cases and at St Luke's Hospital Day Case Unit for day cases.We are a busy service, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust run the Pennine Breast Cancer Screening Service and liaise with surrounding hospitals (Airedale General Hospital, Calderdale Hospitals and Mid Yorkshire hospitals) to manage Screen detected breast cancer cases locally. We also treat close to 400 cancers treated annually and above 3,400 symptomatic referrals seen.The Breast Team cooperates closely with an experienced Plastic Surgery Team. The Breast care team consists of 3 Consultant Surgeons, One associate specialist, 5 Consultant Radiologists, 1 Specialist Registrar, 6 Specialist Nurses , 1 Advanced breast Practitioner, 2 Breast Pathologists, 2 Clinical Oncologists and 2 Medical Oncologists.The Breast Service provides over 10,700 outpatient appointments and over 400 operations per annum and has a population of

Bradford DistrictThe Breast Unit hosts a weekly screening MDT and a weekly symptomatic MDT meeting at St Luke's Hospital, which is attended by the surgeons, medical oncologists, clinical oncologist, pathologist, radiologists, radiographers, and breast care nurses, advanced radiology practitioners, Palliative care nurses, research nurses and MDT co-ordinator Out-patients' clinics are based at our St Luke's Hospital site while surgical theatres are based at Bradford Royal infirmary for inpatients and complex cases and at St Luke's Hospital for day cases About us

To provide a clinical service of the highest quality to patients with benign or malignant breast diseases.To provide a high quality breast reconstruction service.To work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that we work together as a supportive team.To support the teaching and research activities of the team.To provide leadership and act as a role model to junior members of staff.This post does not include any Emergency on call commitmentsPost-operative cover is provided to all breast patients by the team across all sitesTravel between sites may be required, which will be reflected within the job plan.Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space, secretarial support, and networked computer facilities, are provided.Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.25 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service.Examples may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles Person Specification

Qualifications

1. MBChB or equivalent2. FRCS to specialty (UK) or equivalent3. CCT or within 6 months of AAC date4. On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice Postgraduate academic degree Completion of an Oncoplastic Fellowship Experience

Completion of an approved period of training in Breast Surgery or equivalent Experience in oncoplastic techniques such as therapeutic mammoplasty and reconstruction Excellent practical skills in the full range of breast clinical problems Excellent understanding of the management of breast disease Substantial experience of benign and malignant breast conditions Disclosure and Barring Service Check
