We are a progressive team with a strong commitment to develop the scope of the specialty within the Trust and to advance the specialty with partner Trusts within the Northern Healthcare Alliance. In this post, the expectation would be to contribute to the general working of the Oral and Maxillofacial (OMFS) department based primarily at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, including a commitment to the on-call rota. There is current scope to further develop the orthognathic surgery and facial deformity service, in addition to our department's input into the skin service. The Northern Healthcare Alliance has opened opportunities of developing the specialty regionally, with opportunities within job planning for peripheral clinical activity. Main duties of the job
The primary aim of this whole time appointment as Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (10 programmed activities) is to join the existing well-integrated team to provide consultant lead service at tertiary level to the population of the North-East and beyond. There are opportunities to develop the scope of the specialty within the Trust. There is currently a need in helping to expand the deformity/orthognathic service and in cutaneous malignancy. The Trust, being part of the Northern Healthcare Alliance, has developed close working links with neighbouring Trusts within the region. This has resulted in the need to develop inter-Trust working. Therefore, there will also be opportunities in working and collaborating with neighbouring Trusts and peripheral units in supporting the specialty regionally. Day case and access to in-patient operating facilities will be made available. The successful applicant will contribute to the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery 'on call' rota which provides cover within the major trauma centre of the Trust. Job responsibilities
