This post of Consultant Neurodisability Paediatrician has become available within the Trust’s Cambridgeshire Community Paediatric services. This post would suit either an experienced Paediatrician looking for a change or a newly qualified consultant who is looking to improve the outcomes for children within a community setting. The post holder will be part of a team of experienced Community Paediatricians providing a wide range of services to children in the community. The post holder will be expected to have experience and training in the assessment and management of Neurodisability disorders within an MDT assessment team. The applicant will be required to support the safeguarding rota in whom child abuse and neglect has been suspected. All Consultants take part in the ‘On Call’ daytime advice and assessment service for Safeguarding. At the present time there are no out of hours or weekend work commitments. The Job plan includes: 8 PAs Direct Clinical Activity (DCC) and Supporting Clinical Activity (SCC) 2 PAs Supporting Professional Activity (SPA), with extra SPA time available for specific responsibilities. The post covers all of Cambridgeshire but is principally to support services in the north of the county. Administration support is provided within the service. Clinical work is also delivered in some special educational schools. The post holder would be expected to have a good working knowledge of tonal management and complex care management including epilepsy. They would ideally support the outreach epilepsy service in special schools. There is a local Botulinum service in conjunction with Cambridge United Hospitals (CUH) and there would be opportunities to support this service. Provide healthcare to children up to 19 years of age in a local SEND school. This includes medical advice to children related to their disability, multi-disciplinary assessment and management of children with complex physical disability. This would include supporting transition plans for children within that provision and safeguarding support, which may include supporting advanced care plans and end of life support with other agencies. Contribute to regional Safeguarding rota providing medical assessment for children with non-acute safeguarding concerns. Support referral meetings – consultant led. Support teaching and training of medical students, Community and Neuro-disability trainees, educational and clinical supervision. Ongoing contribution to service development and service evaluation and improvement.
