PLANNED CARE DIVISION SUBSTANTIVE CONSULTANT IN PLASTIC SURGERY FULL TIME - 10 Sessions Per Week/40 Hours The candidate will be expected to integrate within the team of existing consultants to provide a complete Plastic Surgery service. There will be a 1:5 on-call rota with onsite junior medical staff support. Duties and Responsibilities The final job plan will be agreed in discussion between the successful candidate and the Lead Clinician in Plastic Surgery, Planned Care, and will be subject to Annual Review. The successful candidate will be a full-time Consultant in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The candidate will be expected to integrate within the team of existing consultants to provide a complete Plastic Surgery service. He/she will be expected to have an interest in general plastic surgery, with a large proportion of skin cancer cases making up the bulk of the elective work, as well as a busy hand trauma service. This post also involves some orthoplastic support for lower limb cases in Oswestry as well as locally. An interest in breast reconstruction (especially microsurgery), hand, and trauma surgery to support and further develop the management of the Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Service is desirable. The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds. Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate, and outpatient facility. Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population. The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount), which includes temporary bank staff, and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services, and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire, which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston, as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire, which has a population of approximately 50,000. The Trust is a busy district general hospital, and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic), ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. Qualifications

FRCS (Plast) or qualification of an equivalent level GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery (or due to obtain a relevant CCT/CESR within 6 months of interview) Fellowship or equivalent experience in orthoplastic/lower limb trauma Other specialist fellowship Experience

Wide clinical experience in general Plastic surgery and independent management of skin cancer and experience in orthoplastic/lower limb trauma work. Other subinterests such as breast, hand, or skin are also desirable. Teaching & Training Experience

Training the Trainers Course Experience/Interest teaching Other Teaching skill Courses or qualifications Management & Administrative Experience

Demonstrate the use of Clinical Audit within the Service Demonstrate the use of research and evidence base to practice Relevant experience in undertaking and organisation of Audit Research and publications relevant to post Personal Attributes
