This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist within general Working Age in our Community Mental Health Recovery Service, as part of a high functioning service covering the region of Tandridge. The successful candidate will also be working alongside another Consultant and as part of a multi disciplinary team. Duties will include outpatient clinics, occasional urgent assessments and home visits, execution of duties under the Mental Health Act, support of non-medical colleagues in decision-making and caseload reviews, supervision of trainees when present, participation in the MDT meetings, and providing clinical leadership to the team.
This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8000 relocation allowance. The Recruitment and Retention payment is pro rata for part time employees.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering consultant psychiatric input to patients referred to and accepted for treatment by the CMHRS in line with the agreed criteria and commissioned care pathways.
The post holder will also be expected to provide clinical leadership to the CMHRS and to act as a consultant/advisor to the team in line with models of practice recognised under 'New Ways of Working' particularly with respect to patients whose mental health needs are complex and carry high risk.
Expected to assess referrals including urgent ones, both working independently and with other team members. They will personally deliver outpatient clinics each week and will supervise the clinical caseload of the associate specialist doctor.
To develop, alongside other colleagues in the team, effective liaison with partner organisations and other local agencies. Development of a collaborative approach to team working with the other consultants in the service is essential.

Qualifications
Essential
MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
Full medical registration with a license to practice.
Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
MRCPsych or equivalent
Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.

Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
Desirable
In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice
