Job summary This is a brand-new opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Roseanne House, Welwyn Garden City. The post involves providing diagnostic assessments and treatment to patients with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions. The Adult Community Mental Health Service (ACMHS) team provides care to the residents of Welwyn Garden City and the surrounding areas and supports GPs through GP plus (Enhanced primary care mental health service). The ACMHS core team includes specialists in medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology, and administrative staff, all reporting to a single management structure. Main duties of the job Manage, appraise and supervise Specialty Doctors and junior medical staff. Ensure compliance with New Deal and Working Time Directive for junior medical staff. Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care. Record clinical activity accurately and submit to the Information Department. Job responsibilities Participate in service and business planning for the locality. Attend annual appraisals for consultants. Participate in the academic programme of the Trust. Engage in annual job plan reviews with the line manager. Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council. Ensure efficient running of services with local managers. Comply with Trust policies and support financial management. Provide psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team. Conduct outpatient clinics, home visits, and participate in case discussions. Liaise effectively with primary care and mental health services. Person Specification Qualifications MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Eligibility Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise. Sec 12 approved. CCT in Psychiatry or inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register. Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience Experience in General Adult psychiatry. Collaborative working with social care and other agencies. Experience with service users with complex needs. Excellent communication and clinical skills. Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. Participated in continuous professional development. Engaged in research or service evaluation.
