CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST IN OLD AGE PSYCHIATRY

based at Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline Hospital

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed clinician to join our dedicated team within NHS Fife working in old age psychiatry in-patient service in West Fife Community Mental Health Team covering West Fife. This is a full-time post (10 sessions) with close working relationships with our two 18 bedded in-patient wards situated also in Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

You must be able to work in a collaborative way with other professionals and agencies. This post is full-time; however, consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work flexibly.

You will be supported by a cohesive and collegiate group of clinicians and will participate in CPD and peer supervision. Consultant peer groups meet regularly, and there are regular educational events organised as part of our in-house programme.

We are always striving to improve our service, and we seek an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed individual to lead and manage change. An area of particular focus over the next couple of years will be the development of the non-medical workforce, given the medical staffing challenges across the United Kingdom. A keen interest in supporting multi-disciplinary team colleagues' professional development would be invaluable.

We welcome discussions around proposed job descriptions to ensure roles match our consultants' interests, experience, and talents - please don't hesitate to ask about alternative ways of working. Our ambition is to have the right person doing the right things at the right time, allowing us to provide a high-quality service to the Older People of Fife.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners with MRCPsych or equivalent. Applicants must have an appropriate CCT (or be eligible for inclusion within 6 months of the interview date).

We also encourage candidates who wish to pursue specialist registration through the CESR process to get in touch, and specific support to acquire this is available.

Interviews will be held on Monday 17th March 2025.

This post may be eligible for Tier 2 sponsorship if required.
