UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE + MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO EVERY LIFE We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at HMP Thameside, a category B resettlement prison in South-East London, based close to Woolwich Arsenal and Plumstead stations. The prison houses around 1250 patients aged 17 plus, including an 18 bed inpatient, where a high proportion of patients have acute mental health needs. Within this role, you will be working closely with a fully staffed and well-established mental health team, with around 70% of your time being patient-facing. HMP Thameside is a busy and fast-paced environment; because of this, the role would suit someone who is adaptable and has a keen interest in developing the mental health service. Hours Monday- Friday 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. We can consider both part-time and full-time applicants for this role. Salary This position is full-time; you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £190,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience. How will we support you? You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists. You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision. Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course. Competency framework. Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks. What you'll be doing
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will: Provide excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the case load onsite. Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments, and provide clinical supervision. Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews.
