Consultant Psychiatrists in Community Mental Health, Coventry

·
Full time
There are three Consultant Psychiatrist positions in the newly transformed Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). Successful applicants will lead medics as part of a multi-professional team in providing community care to people with mental health conditions.

The post holder will participate in providing postgraduate training to the Coventry and Warwickshire Junior Doctor Training Scheme and undergraduate education for medical students from Warwick Medical School.

A key aspect of this post will be building relationships and supporting GPs working within their allocated Primary Care Network.

The post-holder will provide clinical leadership within the team that will provide medical care for working age adult patients from Coventry who present with severe and/or complex mental health problems.

Alongside a Neighbourhood Lead, each psychiatrist is aligned to a PCN or group of GP surgeries and will take the medical lead for the assessment and treatment of patients from those PCNs. They will build relationships with the GPs working with their PCN(s), including meeting with them and offering advice. This will include a different way of allocating calls to the GP adviceline, with consultants responding to calls from their allocated PCN(s) rather than being on a locality rota. Consultants will play a greater role in triage and referral allocation in their place.

Consultants will supervise the work of career grade and junior doctors within their teams. They may also be offered additional support from medical support workers/nurse prescribers/community pharmacists.

At Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT), we deliver a wide range of physical, mental health, learning disability, and autism services, and are proud to serve communities across Coventry, Warwickshire, and beyond.

We put ‘people at our heart’; this ethos is at the centre of everything we do and how we do it. We care for our staff and colleagues as much as they care for others and offer a wide range of benefits and development opportunities.

These include: Generous annual leave entitlement which increases during your time with us. Excellent learning and development opportunities, including apprenticeship frameworks, distance learning, internal training, coaching and mentoring, and much more. Salary sacrifice schemes for lease car/vehicle, Cycle to Work, home and electronics, gym membership, and more. Discounts with a range of retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues through our Employee Assistance Programme and NHS discount schemes. Wellbeing support, including an in-house counselling service, external helpline, and more. Staff networks and support groups.

We’re always on the lookout for people who share our passion for improving the lives and wellbeing of people in our community, as well as our values of compassion, collaboration, excellence, integrity, and respect.
