Consultant Urological Surgeon with interest in General / Core Urology

Applications are invited for a new Consultant Urological Surgeon post at University Hospital of Wales with sub-specialist interest in General / Core Urology. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team providing urological services to the population of Cardiff and the wider South Wales area. Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements. Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £106,000 per annum to £154,760 per annum. Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to provide General / Core urological services, with scope to develop a sub-specialist interest in benign disease. There is a commitment to the 1 in 10 on-call rota. Endourology services within the department include: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy Flexible uretero-renoscopic stone surgery Shockwave Lithotripsy Robotic & Laparoscopic pyeloplasty Bipolar TURP Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate Green Light Laser prostatectomy REZUM Urolift Andrology & Fertility services include Erectile dysfunction service, Peyronie's surgery, and Fertility services including surgical sperm retrieval. Designated benign Clinical Nurse Specialists help with BPH/LUTS clinics, shockwave lithotripsy & stone follow-up. Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected. About us

Qualifications
On GMC Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR (Combined Programme) due within 6 months of interview date Higher Degree or equivalent Experience
Full training in urology Broad range of general urological experience Sub-specialist interests in BPH / LUTS surgery or Andrology and Infertility Skills
Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working Effective and demonstrable communication skills Clinical Governance
Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice Evidence of proactive engagement with appraisal and revalidation (or equivalent) Research
Evidence of active research interests Teaching
Evidence of teaching medical students and resident doctors Management
Evidence of effective leadership skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
