Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for assessing, developing,implementing, and evaluating specialist continence care. They will support individuals and theirfamilies or carers in the community with the aim of optimising patients' levelsof continence, independence and self-care. The postholder will be the named nurse within the team for the management of thosepatients who are unable to attend the community continence clinics ensuring ourcontinence specialist service is accessible to all. The post holder isresponsible for promoting continence and providing specialist assessment anddiagnostic intervention enabling treatment and management packages of care, forpatients with bladder and bowel dysfunction. They are requiredto provide specialist advice and training on the promotion of continence forindividual patients, staff and representatives of other statutory, voluntaryand private sector organisations as required and act as an expert resource toother professionals, patients and carers. In addition, thepost holder will participate in the development of the service to improvepatient care. They will foster goodworking relationships with other health professionals to ensure patientsreceive optimal care, and provide an effective interface between the PrimaryCare, Community Care and the Acute Services. Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register Previous continence promotion experience Teaching and assessing qualification Degree qualification in a nursing related field MSC or MA or working towards Advanced physical assessment Promotion of continence qualification Non-medical prescribing Knowledge
Current national guidelines in continence. Knowledge of bladder and bowel dysfunction including pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment. Familiar with commonly used continence medications Community Services Primary Care Services Skills
