The salary for this role is £37,509. Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week; however, we actively support requests for flexible working. This role can be based at any of the following sites: Rotherham, South Yorkshire; Culham, Oxfordshire; or Whitehaven, Cumbria. This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data. With the increased demand from within the UKAEA for legal documents that record and manage legal risk in complex relationships, as Contract Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in using modern IT systems and document production software (including AI support) to produce higher volumes of good quality, consistent legal documents. This role will comply with the Qualifying Work Experience requirements for candidates on the pathway to qualification as a Solicitor. It is expected that additional legal work in other legal specialisms will also form part of that QWE as the role evolves. Responsibilities:

Responsible for taking instructions from either the Strategic Legal Business Partner(s) or, in some cases, directly from the client team on requirements for a suitable legal document. Consider (with IT support and training) which precedent document is most appropriate. Amend and update documents to fit particular circumstances, taking into account UKAEA policy and approach to legal risk. Assist the client team in negotiating and amending drafts, reaching a final agreed position and confirming compliance with legal standards. Arrange for signature, exchange, and safe storage of legal documents. Provide summaries, process lists, and guidance to team and Commercial colleagues on document contents, obligations, timescales, etc. Provide feedback on performance/use of standard terms to aid future development. Answer queries on management of the legal relationship, liaising with contract and project managers when appropriate.
