About Us My client is a leading UK rail contractor specialising in delivering innovative and high-quality infrastructure solutions. From canopy upgrades to structures over rail and Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works, they are known for our technical expertise and commitment to excellence.

The Role As a Freelance Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM), you will lead and oversee engineering activities across a range of high-profile rail projects. You'll be responsible for ensuring technical compliance, delivering solutions efficiently, and managing multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage engineering activities for projects, including canopy upgrades, structures over rail, and M&E systems. Act as the primary engineering contact for clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, CDM regulations, and other industry requirements. Develop and implement engineering management plans, risk assessments, and assurance processes. Coordinate design, construction, and technical interfaces across all disciplines. Drive quality, safety, and innovation throughout project delivery.

About You They're looking for a confident and experienced professional with the technical expertise to take charge of challenging engineering projects on a freelance basis.

Essential Requirements: Proven experience as a Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) or in a similar role within the rail sector. In-depth knowledge of rail infrastructure, including canopy upgrades, structures over rail, and M&E systems. Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and procedures. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards it). Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
