are currently looking to recruit a

Contracts Manager

to work on our UK Power Networks Contract in Colchester.

As a

Contracts Manager , you will be expected to manage the delivery of a series of projects in a programme of works for UKPN. The role covers works from the design and development stage through to the completion of site delivery. It requires that timescales are met in the project development stages and subsequently ensuring all works are performed in accordance with Health, Safety and Technical policies/procedures and legislative requirements. You will take responsibility for the management and development of direct staff within the project development and project management teams, ensuring works are delivered to programme and in a profitable manner.

MES is proud to be a key partner on the UKPN ED1SON Alliance Contract, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England including design, project management, on-site cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear installation, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning, and demolition.

As the Contracts Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Provide leadership and general support to the project delivery team.

Represent the company in correspondence and liaison with the client in meetings.

Provide Commercial/Programme Support.

Ensure progress through the project development stages is tracked and demonstrated.

Provide input into the MES project governance process.

Assist in the scoping of new projects.

Assist/Review in the creation of project delivery programmes.

Ensure full compliance on projects with all MES procedures and current legislation.

Encourage and integrate innovation and cost-effective working methods across the contracts.

Planning and programming of current and future works.

Involvement with Cost Value Reconciliation.

Support Design Manager with establishing design programme to meet MES requirements.

Ensure adequate staffing is available to deliver works to programme.

Provide input into estimating and tender process.

Participate as part of the senior leadership team on the contract.

Manage the welfare of their reports.

Ensure staff have adequate training and competencies to undertake their works.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

Min 5 years experience of working in an environment of large programmes of capital delivery.

Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure and legislation in addition to sound decision-making skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team.

Able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success.

The ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Creating a culture that embraces inclusion and diversity.

Works within a HV power engineering environment (desirable).

Qualifications (Desirable):

HNC or Degree in Engineering.

NEBOSH Safety management qualification.

Experience in Utility Contracting or Local Authority is desirable.

Understanding of the works within the High Voltage Environment.

Additional Information
