Ridgeway and co are partnering with a leading Groundworks contractor in their search for a Contracts Manager located in Thurrock paying up to £80,000 PA.

My client is looking for someone with the drive and experience to take ownership, manage multiple projects, and actively contribute to the growth of the business. A strong engineering background is essential, with hands-on experience in site and project management. Ideally, this person will have an established network and the ability to bring in new work.

Key Focus Areas:

Project Management:

Oversee multiple projects, ensuring quality, budget control, and timely delivery. Leadership:

Lead and manage teams on-site while maintaining strong relationships with clients and subcontractors. Business Growth:

Ideally, someone who can leverage their network to bring in work or open doors to new opportunities. Strategic Thinking:

Contribute to the company's long-term vision and growth, not just day-to-day operations. Pre-Construction Support:

Assist estimators by leveraging project and engineering experience to support pricing, tendering, and pre-construction planning. Problem Solving:

Ability to troubleshoot, adapt, and make decisions that benefit the project and the company. Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all work is delivered to the highest standards, with full adherence to health and safety regulations.

Ideal Candidate Profile: Strong engineering background with site and project management experience. Track record of successfully managing projects from start to finish. Hardworking, driven, and committed to contributing to the growth of the business. A good industry network is highly preferred - someone who can bring in work or strengthen our pipeline. Leadership qualities - able to take initiative, manage teams, and drive projects forward. Comfortable being hands-on and leading by example.

Experience/Qualifications: Background in engineering (civil, structural, or related). Experience in construction project management or site management. Pre-construction or estimating experience is a plus. Relevant qualifications (degree or equivalent experience in engineering/construction management). Strong communication and negotiation skills.
