About The Role We are looking for a talented Contracts Manager to join our expanding Rail Division. You will be working on a varied portfolio of Rail projects for Network Rail and other valued clients on sites across Southern, overseeing the completion of the organisation's projects on time and within the allocated budget. Your duties include being the first point of contact for members of the project team, taking responsibility for health and safety, and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.

Reporting to an Operations Manager, your duties will include: Controlling safety, quality & environmental activities Ensuring schemes have adequate supervision Delivery of works to program & budget Producing Health & Safety plans & Work Package Plans Writing Risk Assessments Managing programmes Managing Temporary Works Pre-start & site inspections Planning (including road closures and possessions) Toolbox talks & HSEQ briefings Ensuring that all contracts are accurate and relevant documentation is correct and updated when necessary Building and maintaining good relationships with clients and suppliers Developing plans to fit the schedule of works Identifying ways to increase efficiency and improve productivity Corresponding with external stakeholders to document all activities Compiling and delivering presentations to clients and suppliers Collecting and collating data for forecasting and planning purposes

It is essential that you have demonstrable experience in the timely delivery of Civil engineering works on Rail projects.

You will be from an Engineering background, preferably with an HNC in Civil Engineering. You should hold current SMSTS, CSCS, and PTS certifications, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have a proven ability to manage Network Rail contracts from tender through to completion. Additionally, you should demonstrate a commitment to the highest practicable standards of health and safety and environmental protection, have the ability to assess risks associated with the railway, and experience managing small delivery teams while working with other departments to achieve management duties. COSS or IWA Training as appropriate is also required.
