Become a part of the “strength within.” The Hexcel Early Career Program is a highly coveted rotational program, designed to give participants the opportunity to gain valuable experience and receive wide exposure to the different Hexcel business functions. This exposure occurs through coordinated placements which provide unique and impactful experiences within the participants’ designated function. Participants may also get the opportunity to travel to different locations within Europe to gain insight into related functions in several Hexcel plants. This Controls Engineer role will be based in Duxford, UK. The Early Career Program will help participants gain the necessary skills and knowledge through comprehensive and holistic learning experiences, projects, training, networking, interaction with corporate executives, and ongoing exposure with customers. Program graduates have the technical, business, and leadership foundation to proactively and continuously make innovative contributions to the future of Hexcel in positions best suited to match their individual career goals. As a Controls Engineer at Hexcel, you will utilize your engineering knowledge and problem-solving skills to undertake interesting project work, further continuous improvement, and deal with internal/external complaints. The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: Developing methods for responding to controls problems and a consistent rationale to permanently correct, document and implement them. Proposing and developing control system improvements for the site. Controlling and maintaining control integrity standards. Developing and proposing equipment specifications e.g., ATEX, SIL equipment. Overseeing plant trials where necessary for project work or quality concerns. Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, at the same time reviewing the safety requirements. Support Maintenance/Projects to improve plant performance and reliability. Lead continuous improvement projects within the department. Support and ensure the correct process for management of change and equivalence. Optimization of selected processes in Duxford. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls/Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace, or Material Science. Basic experience in industrial environments. Knowledge of machine design, maintenance equipment, process control, and improvement. Knowledge and experience in control engineering. Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. Six Sigma). Demonstrated leadership potential. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Must be willing and able to relocate, and travel domestically and internationally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter. Candidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
