In this role, a typical day will look like: Being involved in all stages of PLC and HMI development projects – scoping & requirements, development, verification, documentation, and support of software solutions. Acting as a technical resource to integrate best practices and proposing innovative solutions in a cross-functional environment. Participating in continuous improvement ideas to the team’s processes, tools, and software solutions. Assisting with research, validation, and implementation of new and emerging automation technologies. Defining and implementing PLC control strategies for new and existing products that meet delivery, scope, and quality metrics. The essential requirements of the job include: Post-secondary education in Electrical / Controls System Engineering, or equivalent experience. 1-3 years’ experience in PLC and HMI programming developing product logic solutions with at least one major platform (e.g. Allan Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Wago, etc.) Some experience with text-based programming languages such as Structured Test (ST) or Structured Control Language (SCL) an asset. Ability to travel 10% of the time in the US and Canada. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Delivery of new features and functionality that deliver improved user experience. Continued improvement and implementation of standard work/processes to deliver on team goals. Experience with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP). Experience in Jira or other Atlassian tools. Codesys based programming environments.
