You can join a talented group of individuals in our Business Advisory Services department who support our growing network of UHY firms across the UK.

Role overview We advise entrepreneurs, owner managers, family businesses and private equity houses on a range of transactions including disposals, acquisitions, management buy-outs, fundraisings – equity and/or debt, together with advising clients on helping to prepare for transactions to enable them to optimise the transaction outcome. We work across all sectors.

Job description

Hands-on involvement in a range of transactions, from business sales to private equity deals, working more autonomously with junior support on simpler transactions, and with Directors/ Partners on more complex ones, as required

Commercial mind set to quickly develop an understanding of a client’s business, its drivers and differentiators and applying appropriate levels of scepticism and challenge

Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence in order to develop strong client and intermediary relationships to enable being the main day to day contact for clients for a project

Review and preparation of reports including information memorandum, business plans and teasers

Advising on transaction structures and deal negotiations, project management of transactions in order to maintain a timetable and work to deadlines

Planning and carrying out projects to a high standard, taking ownership of your work and maintaining the high standards we expect of ourselves and that clients expect of us both professionally and ethically

Be part of growing and developing the team over time, working as a role model for junior team members and working closely with other senior members, and empowering and developing the more junior members

Take a proactive involvement in business development opportunities, including generating ideas for such opportunities and cross selling opportunities for other UHY teams.

Working arrangements The working week: 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday) to be worked from 09:30-17:30 with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands.

Location: Your principle work based is our London Office.

Person specifications – Desirable experience and skills

A good, robust understanding of the M&A process and different transaction structures

Minimum of 4 + years corporate finance experience in delivering disposals (to trade and private equity), acquisitions, and fundraisings, with experience of leading elements of a transaction

High level report writing and reviewing skills, with an appropriate focus on attention to details, conciseness and risk management

Excellent numeracy skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to absorb and analyse large amounts of data, including excellent Microsoft office skills, in particular Excel and PowerPoint

Client focus, with ability to work quickly and establish effective working relationships

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Good problem solving and analytical skills

Project management and organisational skills

Have an effective approach to time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines

Ability to undertake detailed financial/commercial analysis for inclusion in client deliverables

Ability to connect high level strategic thinking to the details of a company’s financial information

The self-confidence/appetite to be involved in business development activities

Ability to work across multiple projects/ leads and occasionally handle pressurised situations

ACA, CFA or relevant qualification
