Are you passionate about cost management and the steel industry? Ionic are currently seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our client's dynamic team, where you'll manage the financial costing aspects of key steel-focused projects. This role is perfect for a professional with a deep understanding of steelworks.

About the Company

Join a highly regarded family-owned fabrication company with over four decades of industry experience. Specializing in steelwork contracts up to 1,000 tonnes, this company boasts a reputation for quality and reliability. With more than 25 site teams dedicated to erecting steelwork and fitting metalwork, they are looking for a skilled Site Manager to oversee operations across the North West.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor costs daily, weekly, and monthly, ensuring budgets are met and accurate reporting. Identify and report cost variances promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Collaborate across departments to ensure proper cost allocation and control. Prepare and submit interim valuations for projects monthly to maintain positive cash flow. Negotiate project final accounts and prepare applications for payment. Produce internal cost/value reports when required. Evaluate and reconcile hours allowed at tender stage with hours worked in fabrication. Enter budgets and costings into the company's software system. Manage contract-related documentation, including bonds, retentions, and collateral warranties. Conduct steel take-offs, measure materials from drawings/specifications, and issue subcontract orders (e.g., decking). Attend client pre-construction/start meetings when required.

Ideal Candidate:

Proven experience in cost management within the steel industry (essential). Strong knowledge of steel-related costs, supplier networks, and contract management practices (essential). Exceptional analytical skills with robust numerical abilities. A meticulous professional with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
