Position: Cost Negotiator
Location: The role will be Hybrid, our office locations are, Southport, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Bolton
We are a dynamic and rapidly expanding law firm specialising in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury, dedicated to delivering justice and fair compensation for our clients. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Cost Negotiator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and strong negotiation skills to play a pivotal role in our operations.
Role Overview:
As a Cost Negotiator, you will be an integral part of our firm, responsible for managing the costs associated with our cases. Your primary focus will be to ensure that the costs incurred are reasonable, and to negotiate settlements that align with the best interests of our clients. This role demands a thorough understanding of legal costs, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate effectively with various stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities for the role:
Managing own caseload using case management software
Instruct Counsel to attend Detailed Assessment/Oral review or alternatively conduct own hearings.
Hit agreed recovery targets.
Undertaking accurate valuation
Constant communication with fee earners
Providing head of team updates on forecasts, recoveries, issue files
Hit agreed daily chargeable hours target.
Keep MI fully up to date and accurate.
Deal with aged debt where applicable
Review points of dispute
Assist in bundle preparation.
Ensure SLA/Pipeline metrics adhered to
Follow agreed processes.
Providing legal teams with costs advice
Attending team meetings
Providing feedback on recoveries/files/fee earning practices
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in dealing with high value Litigation and Negotiation cases.
Experience of Proclaim
Experience of Cost Master
Organisational, planning and communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills
Good general IT skills
Time management
Ability to use initiative.
Working effectively within a team.
Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
