An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Principal Clinical Psychologist within our Accredited Crisis and Home Treatment teams in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Care Group.

The successful applicant will work alongside a psychologically minded team of nurses, medics, and allied health professionals to deliver trauma-informed and compassionate care to our service users across our two patches (Shrewsbury and Telford). We are able to offer a degree of flexible working practices across the sites.

It is envisaged that the post will entail working both directly and indirectly with service users referred to the crisis and home treatment team. You will be carrying out/supervising expert assessment, formulation, and brief intervention work with individuals and/or their systems. The post will also entail significant elements of consultation, reflective practice, staff well-being, team formulation, and training. There will likely be opportunities for service development and involvement in the CRHT collective leadership team.

Psychology is highly regarded in the care group, and there will be support and opportunities for further training and CPD. In the care group, there is expertise in working from numerous psychological models including e.g. DBT, MBT, CFT, CBT, ISTDP, ACT, and CAT.

You will be well supported via clinical supervision by the urgent care pathway consultant clinical psychologist and managerial supervision by the team manager. There are regular pathway psychology meetings and bi-monthly regional psychology meetings and teaching sessions attended by adult mental health, our children and young people teams, and specialist services psychologists.

This post will maintain close links with other psychology colleagues within the urgent care pathway (inpatients, Crisis/home treatment, and Liaison mental health) and our community psychology colleagues. Across the urgent care pathway, we will have 4 practitioner psychologists, trainee associate psychologists, and assistant psychologists with the possibility of further expansion in the near future.
