Counter Fraud Technical Specialist London/Bromley At Direct Line Group, insurance is just the start. Combining decades of industry experience with talented people in every field from data, technology, customer care and auto repair, to HR, finance and procurement, we’re a customer-obsessed market powerhouse. And we all work together to be brilliant for customers, every single day. We're looking for two Counter Fraud Investigators to join our Commercial Counter Fraud Department for 14-month secondment as a Technical Specialist reporting to our Counter Fraud Team Leader. This role has a hybrid working style where you will work onsite from our Bromley office twice a week and the rest of the time from home. What you'll be doing: You will deliver Counter Fraud benefit by identifying insurance fraud and undertaking investigations to validate or substantiate concerns. You will demonstrate that all cases follow legislation and risk regulations set internally and by external governing bodies. You will manage customer and broker expectations, including enquiries into indemnity, liability and will update them throughout an investigation. You will demonstrate skill in preventing and detecting insurance fraud, with the ability to manage potential outcomes. You will mitigate the spend and control the cost of investigations by identifying threats and leakage, and recommend appropriate handling strategies to colleagues. You will be the technical referral point for the department, and be aware of the changing legal and regulatory environment and help to identify necessary changes to maximise fraud detection. You will provide coaching, mentoring, and sign off on key decisions and litigation, whilst providing feedback to the Team Leader with recommendations for handler development. You will sometimes deputise for the Leadership Team, and be accountable for the team's quality and performance by completing QA reviews, authorising payments and savings and attending leadership meetings. You will represent DLG at relevant industry forums and steering committees, ensuring excellent internal stakeholder engagement, preparation, participation and communication of content to the business, initiating any necessary actions whilst ensuring Competition Law is adhered to. You will understand the balance between preventing fraud and treating our customers fairly, removing innocent parties from the process, minimising avoidable complaints. What you'll need: Counter Fraud background Previous experience in claims handling (Property, Liability and Motor) and/or policy fraud Excellent organisational and time management skills Good communication skills Ability to prioritise and manage workload efficiently Ways of Working: Our hybrid model way of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone. When you'll be in the office depends on your role, but most colleagues are in 2 days a week, and we'll consider the flexible working options that work best for you. There’s no one else like you. No one with the exact same mix of strengths, quirks, skills and thoughts. We’re all brilliant individuals, but we’re not perfect. And we’re fine with that. Because it gives us all something to aim for. Every person, Squad, Tribe and Chapter. Every business that makes our Group. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder to stand out in the market. To keep innovating and leading the way. And be an insurance company of the future. We’ll get there by living our values. After all, they’re what make us who we are. And what does that mean for you? First, you can be the real you. We want you to feel confident and empowered, and to believe in yourself as much we do. Your input matters. So, whatever you do we’ll encourage you to own it. To spot opportunities, take the initiative, push your talent and make things happen. We need different perspectives. So go for it. Speak up, ask questions, make suggestions – and, of course, listen to others. Because when we communicate and collaborate, this is how we win together. Let’s be proud of who we are, of what we do, and what every single one of us brings. We can all achieve great things – for our customers and each other – and have fun along the way. Together we’re one of a kind.
