We are looking for an individual who is passionate about net zero and protecting our environment, with good IT skills and good knowledge of project management processes to join the Low Carbon Economy Team for a period of 24 months.

WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will work as part of the Team with responsibility for delivering Countywide decarbonisation projects. You will assist in identifying and developing new opportunities for low carbon economic growth and partnerships and provide specialist technical expertise on decarbonisation and environmental sustainability, working closely with the BEEP, EV and Engagement teams to develop effective countywide projects contributing to the achievement of carbon neutrality by 2045.

WHAT WILL I NEED? You will have a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline and/or experience in energy, climate action and/or project management.

You should have experience of applying the principles of carbon reduction, climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

You will have experience of managing a range of projects and also of supporting engagement with the private and public sectors.

HYBRID WORKING Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
