What you need to know about the role Steelmaking Cranes play a crucial role in supporting the Basic Oxygen Plant, Concast and Semi-Finished Products in our steel manufacturing process. Our scope of work encompasses Thyristor drives, slip ring motors, protection systems, transformers and other low voltage supply equipment & PLCs. As a Steelmaking Cranes Team Leader, you will oversee British Steel craft and contractor resources to ensure the safe and effective maintenance of equipment.

Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to; Supervision & Leadership:

Providing front-line supervision, technical advice and planning, you will lead and motivate your team to achieve the desired outcomes. Collaboration:

You will work closely with Maintenance Engineers and other Team Leaders to ensure seamless operations. Standards & Development:

In maintaining and elevating engineering standards, you will develop the craft team to achieve high maintenance standards safely and efficiently. Strategy Improvement:

Liaising with Maintenance Engineers and customers to enhance maintenance strategies. In this role - you will be pivotal in maintaining high engineering standards and driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices. Your leadership will ensure that our operations run smoothly and safely, contributing to the overall success of our steel manufacturing process.

What we need to know about you: To be considered for this position you

must

be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant electrical trade or have served a recognised apprenticeship.

Ideally you will have experience of electrical maintenance and fault finding within a commercial or heavy engineering environment, essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop.

Knowledge of steelmaking would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.

Certificate evidence will be required
