Once completed, submit your form by email to Afra.Searle@swast.nhs.uk SWASFT is seeking an experienced consultant to join the Critical Care Medical Advisor (formally Top Cover) rota. The role will provide pre-hospital consultant level clinical advice to enhanced and critical care clinicians within the Trust on the management of the seriously ill or injured patient or for complex incidents requiring specialist response. This will principally include Paramedics within Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART), Specialist and Advanced Practitioners in Critical Care in clinical roles and supporting the Major Trauma and Resuscitation Advice Line (or equivalent) within the Trust. This support takes the form of subject matter expert advice on patient care, including the verbal authorisation of medicines (within legislative authority), blood products and clinical procedures. It may also include provision of clinical 'second opinion' and peer support to enhanced and critical care clinicians, the Strategic Medical Advisor and Trust Commanders. Main duties of the job

Education and Qualifications

MBChB/MBBS or equivalent GMC registration and license to practice On the Specialist Register in a relevant specialty DipIMC Completed sub-specialty PHEM training On the FHPC level 8 register FIMC Previous Experience

Extensive experience as a prehospital critical care doctor at consultant level Work in a SWAST Critical Care Team Be on the trusts register of Pre-Hospital Emergency Anaesthesia Providers Evidence of involvement with ECCG governance Evidence of involvement with training and development of HART paramedics Currency in the management of major incidents Experience in provision of remote advice Evidence of quality improvement in the pre-hospital setting Skills, Knowledge, Ability

Up to date knowledge of HART operations and skill set Up to date knowledge of SWAST CCGs/PGDs relevant to specialist and advanced practice in Enhanced and Critical Care A robust understanding of drug legislation in pre-hospital care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
