It is an exciting time to join the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Our adult Critical Care service provides an integrated level 1, 2, and 3 Critical Care service with 6 level 3 and 4 Level 2 Critical care beds in a purpose-built unit and 24/7 level 1 service. Our unit is challenging, exciting, and supportive, and you will be working as part of a highly skilled, dynamic, and friendly team. The role requires taking charge of the unit, supervising clinical care, and managing a group of team members. The post holder will assist the Critical Care Matron with the continuing responsibility for Critical Care services, ensuring the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care is of a high standard. This includes providing leadership, role modeling good professional practice and behavior, and maintaining a safe environment. Gain experience in appraisal, sickness, and performance management. This service requires 24/7 cover, with working hours of long days and long nights, including weekends and some management shifts. The successful candidate must have substantial experience in a critical care setting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a multi-professional team managing a wide range of complex problems and sometimes conflicting priorities. We are looking for a reliable, motivated, approachable, and enthusiastic Team Manager for Critical Care Complex. Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the safe running of the Critical Care Unit on their shift and undertake an outreach role. The post holder will assist the Critical Care Matron with the continuing responsibility for Critical Care services, ensuring the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care is of a high standard. The post holder is also required to supervise staff of Band 6 and below and teach other nursing and non-nursing staff. About Us

Acts as a resource and promotes advice and assistance to nursing and paramedic staff in all areas within the Anaesthetic Directorate when required. Assists with any problems presented by patients, referring these to the appropriate department for action. Receives and gives reports on nursing care. Facilitates the correct agreed records, observations, and procedures are carried out to the agreed standard, with due regard to confidentiality. Assists with the investigation of complaints, incidents, accidents, and any other untoward occurrences, and reports findings to the CCC Matron, where appropriate. Ensures own ability to practice and acts as a facilitator through appropriate professional development. Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (NMC) Evidence of Continuous Professional Development Recent experience working in a Critical Care setting Teaching qualifications Experience

At least 2 years of experience in a Critical Care environment as BAND 6 Leadership potential Positive attitude to change Skills in mentoring and supervision of colleagues Works well within a team Ability to lead projects and new developments Some financial/budgetary awareness Some experience related to performance review process Experience of managing and motivating a team Personal Skills
