We have an exciting opportunity for a nurse/ODP to join our multi-disciplinary theatre team at The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. This role requires an enthusiastic, committed and diligent person who is keen to move into a specialist department, able to work within a dynamic team and will strive to maintain the high standard of care offered to our patients. There will be an on-call commitment required as part of the post to cover out of hours working. There will also be an opportunity to develop further skills in scrub and recovery. Main duties of the job
In your role you will be required to work as a competent member of the Cardiothoracic Theatre team, performing a wide range of duties in the anaesthetic/scrub/recovery areas. You will be responsible for assessing care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, developing and maintaining good unit management and organisational skills and assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of staff. Your duties will also include the cleaning, maintenance and safe handling of equipment. About us

Knowledge and Experience
Demonstrate interest in cardiothoracics Qualifications
NMC /HCPC Registration or pending 1st Level Registration RN CGLI 752 or NVQ in Operating Department Practice at Level 3. Experience of current working in anaesthetics/theatres over at least an eighteen-month period. Recognised mentorship course and/or evidence of working towards Communication Skills
Professional manner Able to respond positively to constructive criticism Able to deal with moments of tension when dealing with patients, the public or members of staff Able to manage time effectively and prioritise. Ability to make decisions to meet the needs of urgent surgery or limited capacity by using good clinical judgment and effective resource management. Personal and People Development

Available for sufficient hours to meet the needs of the service and to experience full range of development opportunities. Available for out of hours cover and 24hr rotation.
