Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Clinical Administrator to provide secretarial support to a Consultant Psychiatrist and liaise with the wider Psychiatry and MDT within the Community Learning Disability Service. The post holder needs to be skilled in prioritisation, have effective time management, and be flexible to respond to the needs of the service. The post holder must have the ability to use computer software and other electronic systems. You will be the first port of call to assist the Consultant Psychiatrist in supporting them to fulfil their duties. You may be a first point of contact for service users calling into CTPLD, and a friendly and helpful/responsive attitude is needed. The Northamptonshire Community Team for People with Learning Disability delivers specialist multi-disciplinary healthcare to adults who have a learning disability presenting with physical health needs, a mental illness and/or challenging behaviour. The service provided is person-centred and tailored to the individual and their environment, taking into account their ethnic and cultural backgrounds and needs. Main duties of the job

A range of secretarial and clerical skills will be required to autonomously support the smooth running of day-to-day administration tasks for a designated Consultant. You will be pivotal in liaising with other medical secretaries in the team, enabling a cohesive team approach to facilitate outstanding compassionate care. It is essential you are able to provide support to the Consultant Psychiatrist while ensuring conflicting demands are managed. You will also provide onboarding support with new medical staffing team joining the team as well as supporting medical trainees/placement students under the lead of the Consultant Psychiatrists. The post is based at St Mary's Hospital, Kettering, although the team provides cover for the Northamptonshire area. You will need to be able to travel to other team bases and NHFT sites as required; therefore, a UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes are essential. Working for our organisation

Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy. RSA Level three/Speed typing qualification or demonstrable experience (min 60 wpm). Knowledge of specialist clinical terminology. Experience of providing administration and secretarial at a senior/executive level. Relevant current clinical administration experience. Experience of working with patient information systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Shorthand or speed writing. Previous experience of working in the NHS. Previous experience of Systm1. Skills and Abilities

Ability to organise and prioritise own workload, work under pressure and work to deadlines. Dealing with telephone calls/typing letters with distressing or emotional content. Ability to deal sensitively with service users, carers and colleagues. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise judgement when dealing with sensitive issues. Ability to concentrate where work pattern is unpredictable and there are frequent interruptions. UK driving license and access to vehicle for work purposes.
