The role: Customs & Logistics Manager An opportunity has arisen to (jointly) lead BA Engineering’s inhouse customs brokerage team. This Team is responsible for the import and export of BA’s aircraft, aircraft materials and aircraft related tooling and equipment across international borders. The UK’s exit from the EU has resulted in our UK customs declarations being at an all-time high, making the Team’s role in our supply chain more critical than ever. In addition to import customs, you will be responsible for ensuring BA’s compliance with export controls, including international sanctions. The team is also responsible for arranging both our scheduled and ad-hoc UK road haulage movements, which supply material to BA engineering’s facilities around the UK. The successful candidate will have a track record of delivery in an area where compliance is paramount and will be comfortable working with bodies such as HMRC. Knowledge of UK customs procedures will be highly advantageous. What you’ll do: Ensure goods cross international borders with the absolute minimum of disruption, ensuring engineering supply chain are able to meet the requirements of the Airline. Ensure logistics suppliers are pro-actively and effectively managed. Ensure the most cost-effective customs import procedures are used, minimising import duty, import VAT (where it can’t be reclaimed) and administrative cost. Undertake a program of self-audits to ensure team are operating in a compliant manner, putting remedial action in place where required. Provide support & advice to the business with regards to import & export compliance and cost efficiency. Manage BA Engineering’s UK Road haulage provider, including working with stakeholder areas to define trucking requirements and cost-effective means of delivery these. Continually improve own team and the wider businesses processes through use of Lean and Continuous Improvement tools and techniques. What you’ll bring to British Airways: Proven ability to work with government/regulators - HMRC and department for international trade. A proven ability to solve problems and manage on the day operational problems in a timely manner. Ability to manage spend within budget. Your experience: Knowledge of UK, EU & International Trade Regulations governing the import & export of aircraft parts & associated maintenance materials, equipment and tools.
