Customs Manager
The BMW Group Tax team is looking for a new team member to help assure the best interests of BMW are met by providing effective and efficient guidance defining, operating, and running processes and systems as regards international trade regulations. The function ensures compliance and provides expert advice regarding tax, customs, and export control topics as well as the technical governance for UK & IE BMW Group companies.
What awaits you?
Ensure that the international trade and customs compliance activities are completed effectively and efficiently and lead customs audits of the various companies.
Monitor and ensure that the internal customs control environment is effective, efficient, and in compliance with emerging government regulations for all entities supported. Ensure proper record retention.
Develop effective BMW network and partnerships as relevant for customs and international trade processes and projects. Serve as a consultant and provide necessary services to other departments concerning customs and international trade issues. Interface with HMRC (and other agency) personnel to maintain excellent working relationships.
Design and implement customs and international trade processes and projects/process documentation and work instructions as assigned by management providing systems development support (requirements/testing).
Identify process gaps/inefficiencies/improvements, communicate to management, and implement solutions as aligned with management.
Monitor processes performed by external service provider(s) to ensure compliance with regulations.
Ensure information is validated and shared across all relevant BMW UK & IE Group entity systems and processes and share with international stakeholders of BMW Group entities to increase data integrity and consistency from an end-to-end point of view.
What should you bring along?
University degree (or equivalent) in business administration/economics/law or vocational training in economics with additional qualification.
Demonstrable experience working in customs/international trade in a global corporation. Tax knowledge beneficial.
Previous experience of computer skills to include MS Office and Windows, SAP experience or any other Trade Compliance/Tax system (MIC, etc.).
Demonstrating analytical skills, experience working collaboratively in a team environment with effective communication skills.
International and/or Industry Experience preferred.
Knowledge of Customs CDS system preferred.
This position may entail some domestic and occasional international travel (25-50%).
