N/A Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: The role of the Customs Specialist is to ensure adidas product is customs cleared in a timely manner with reporting deadlines met and all legal requirements adhered to. Specifically, the role requires timely and accurate visibility of information and on time completion of end-to-end customs declarations so that product can be delivered 'On Time In Full' according to customer orders and specification, within agreed timelines. To identify and highlight areas of continuous improvement and problem solve towards desired solution. Key Responsibilities: Preparation of import files and sending clearance instructions to nominated clearing agent in line with vessel dock dates or transport bookings to meet delivery book dates, whichever is applicable. Monitor and escalate issues relating to missing/incorrect documents, manifest issues as required and log/escalate where necessary. Ensure all preference documents are valid and present for reduced/nil duty rates to be applied. Efficient and timely preparation/submission of Preference duty reclaims to HMRC. Preparation of SCDP (Simplified Customs Declaration Procedure) declarations to the UK Customs authorities and their submission to CDS (Customs declaration service). Completion of month end procedures to meet legal deadlines. Support data capture, reporting and reconciliation. Resolve identified issues, escalating to management where required. Building and maintaining excellent relationships with cross functional departments and external business partners. Support and manage, where required, customs projects defined by the Customs Managers. Where required, represent the business in various areas such as software user meetings, global customs projects, supplier workshops. Key Relationships: Global and Market Customs teams Intake Team Supply Chain Management teams Group Logistics Global and Market IT and Duty Management System software supplier External Business Partners Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access). SAP knowledge desirable. Practical knowledge of customs clearance operations and customs regulations desirable. An ability to understand regulatory language and documents. Good planning and organizational skills, and ability to work, be flexible and deliver in dynamic environments while adhering to specified deadlines. Results driven with ability to work individually, as part of a team and through cross functional teamwork. Demonstrated business reasoning, analytical and critical thinking, good track record of continuous improvement through problem solving. Enthusiastic and reliable, positive, self-motivated. Knowledge of supply chain operations is an advantage. Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: GCSE educated as minimum, Maths and English. Understanding and experience of SCDP (Simplified Customs Declaration Procedure) is desirable. Understanding and experience of customs warehouse principles desirable. Fluent in English both spoken and written.
