Job Overview
This exciting opportunity includes working within a specialist cardiac rehabilitation service, as part of the clinical health psychology team at Salford Royal Foundation Trust. The post holder will be expected to assess, formulate and provide intervention to patients under the cardiac rehabilitation team. This is an interesting and varied role, and the post holder will have some flexibility in how to deliver the input required. Evaluation of outcomes will be an essential part of the post. The work will be on an outpatient basis, and involves working closely with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals to promote psychological well-being, adherence to treatment, and lifestyle changes, all in line with NICE and the British Association of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) guidelines. The post-holder will be supported by the wider General Medicine team within the Clinical Health Psychology service and will receive appropriate supervision, CPD opportunities, and clinical guidance from this team. Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be expected to take an active role in assessment and treatment of a range of psychological difficulties related to cardiac health, including anxiety, low mood, and trauma-related difficulties. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the cardiac rehabilitation MDT and provide a psychological perspective and expertise in relation to patient care. The post holder may be expected to cover other areas of clinical health psychology dependent on changing service needs and waiting list priorities. Qualifications
BSc Psychology (or equivalent recognised by BPS) and post-graduate training or statement of equivalence from BPS Doctoral level training in Clinical, Counselling or Health Psychology Professional Registration
The post holder must be able to satisfy the criteria for HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist for the advertised role Knowledge, Training & Experience
Evidence of an understanding of the required skills to formulate and appropriately design an intervention for individuals with chronic health conditions Experience of working in Clinical Health Psychology Services (including placements as a Trainee) If already working as a band 7, to have experience of supervising others Knowledge of the models and process of supervision as it might relate to supervision of non-psychologist colleagues Skills & Abilities
Research experience or further doctoral training Training in approaches particularly valuable in health settings such as ACT, CFT, EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy including group-based approaches where appropriate We understand the importance of balancing work and home life.
