Data and AI Manager Newcastle upon Tyne, Hybrid working 2 days office based per week Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw). As our Data and AI Manager, you’ll step into a brand new role that offers the rare opportunity to combine hands on technical work with leading and growing a team of skilled professionals. This isn’t just about leadership, it’s about staying close to the technology you love while driving smarter decisions and real-world impact. Working within our Tech and Cyber function, you’ll take ownership of this new role, using your expertise with Azure Cloud based data tools and Azure OpenAI to create cutting edge solutions. This is your chance to innovate, influence strategy, and help shape how we harness the power of data and AI for the future. What you’ll do Build a cutting edge Azure cloud data platform that drives smarter, faster decisions. Lead AI innovation, creating impactful solutions with tools like Databricks and Azure OpenAI. Ensure secure, trusted, and compliant data practices for the organisation. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align data and AI strategies with business needs. Mentor and guide your team to grow their expertise in cloud and AI technologies. Partner with external suppliers to maximise value and adopt best practices. What you bring Strong expertise in Azure tools like Synapse, Databricks, and Data Factory, plus Python proficiency. Hands-on experience with AI technologies like large language models (LLMs) and RAG (retrieval-augmented generation). A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence technical strategy with senior stakeholders. A track record of delivering innovative, impactful data and AI solutions. Passion for mentoring and growing a high-performing team. Knowledge of tools like Power BI or Tableau to drive business intelligence. Job details Monday to Friday role, with 2 days in our Newcastle upon Tyne offices per week. You’ll manage your own diary, so if you need to work from home to take delivery of your new fridge or take a longer lunch for a haircut, you can use your flexi time to manage that!
