Join us as a Data Architect This is an opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to help us define the high level technical architecture and design for your assigned scope that provides solutions to deliver great business outcomes and meets our longer term strategy. You’ll define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision of end-to-end designs that may span multiple platforms and domains. Take on this exciting new challenge and hone your technical capabilities while advancing your career and building your network across the bank. This is a hybrid role, so you'll work from home some of the time, but spend at least one day a week in the office based in either Edinburgh, Manchester or London. You’ll join on a competitive salary between £54,000 - £68,000 (depending on skills and experience) and in addition you’ll receive a contribution to help you save for retirement. You'll have a generous holiday entitlement of 30 days plus bank holidays. What you'll do: Influence and support architecture, platform and domain teams on the data delivery, ensuring data is considered throughout the requirements, design and delivery lifecycle. Partner with the wider technology teams, including the central data team, the solution and infrastructure architects within your domain, platform and domain teams, to design and manage the data lifecycle. Elaborate the solution and its interfaces, validate technology assumptions, evaluate implementation alternatives, and create the continuous delivery pipeline. Provide analysis of options and deliver end-to-end solution designs using the relevant building blocks. Produce designs for features that allow frequent incremental delivery of customer value. Own the technical design issues and drive resolution through the iteration of the technical solution design. Participate in activities to shape requirements, validating designs and prototypes to deliver change that aligns with the target architecture. Promote adaptive design practices to drive collaboration of feature teams around a common technical vision using continuous feedback. Make recommendations of potential impacts to existing and prospective customers of the latest technology and customer trends. Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including but not limited to, database schemas, streaming structures and API specifications. Promote the accessibility, accuracy and security of data through efficient data management. The skills you'll need: Expert knowledge of designing data intensive applications with working knowledge of industry architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ArchiMate. Understanding of Agile and contemporary methodologies with experience of working in Agile teams. A solid knowledge of modern data management practices and technologies. Experience of defining application architectures and roadmaps for complex solutions working for all layers of the technical architecture. A background in delivering solutions that securely span a complex infrastructure domain. Experience of systems development change lifecycles, best practices and approaches. Knowledge of hardware, software, application, system engineering, Cloud, Eventstreaming, microservices, APIs. The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to peers and leadership level colleagues.
