Our primary goal is to provide services and facilities that meet the needs both of the University and the broader community, as well as support the University's strategic objectives and commitment to public good by creating a stimulating learning, living and working environment. We are in the process of forming a new Data team dedicated to developing our data governance, data engineering and DataOps capabilities. This team will play a crucial role in the University's transformational IT projects. This is an opportunity to join that team at the start of its journey. About the role

As a data architect you will work within dynamic teams on a range of strategic projects to transform data for integrating systems and preparing data for analysis, while contributing to needs of data governance. You will also play a key role in designing our future data warehouse and the intended common data model. The focus of the work will be on cloud-based projects, based on Snowflake, our chosen data platform. The work will also involve working with data hosted in our own data centres. Data architects work with data engineers, project managers, business analysts, software developers, and data analysts to ensure the University understands, manages, and consolidates its data. Data architects are also expected to contribute to a collaborative environment within and between teams, for example by participating in peer reviews and cross-team Community of Practice meetings. Above all, we’re looking for people with a positive attitude, who are adaptable and can learn new technologies; we’re happy to provide the training necessary to succeed in the role. The position is offered full-time at 37 hours per week. The team is based in our York campus.
