About the department We are looking for a Data Engineer to drive data integration and management across the business, enabling informed decision-making and actionable insights. Sitting within the Tech team, this role focuses on unifying data from various third-party tools used across departments such as Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Marketing, and Trading. By consolidating data into our cloud-based warehouse, you’ll create the foundation for efficient data processing and high-quality analytics delivery. While the initial focus will be on Operations, Merchandising, and Digital Trading, a broad understanding of business functions is essential for success. Main responsibilities Responsible for contributing to the day-to-day data flows from 3rd party systems to our own data environment for use in reporting and analysis Build out our own ETL processes and data warehouse architecture to best deliver on the reporting, analysis and insight needs of the business Deliver ad-hoc data and reporting as needed Driving best-practice process and project management for the Snowflake data warehouse Integrating new 3rd party systems into Oh Polly from a data perspective and ensuring the data coming out of different tools is consistent and of high quality Building from the ground up how to best utilise data across our Operations functions – move away from several different tools and manual inputs to a streamlined and consistent approach to help drive Operations performance Work with the Tech team to ensure all data coming out of systems is of high quality and uses consistent definitions Collect business requirements from across departments to build out Oh Polly future data strategy Apply best practice data quality, data governance, project management strategies and techniques Proactively assist in problem solving within the team and across teams Requirements You are technical by nature, with experience across a variety of programming languages (SQL, Python are essential) Experienced in working with server and/or cloud SQL databases Able to translate business needs into technical data requirements Experience with DBT for transformations is desirable Driven by best-practice and doing things the right way Well organised with a systematic approach to work and close attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal Have 2+ years experience working in a similar engineering capacity An understanding of data processes and experience working with and/or developing ETL processes Experience of manipulating/analysing data from large databases Project Management qualifications (e.g. Prince, Agile); ideal but not essential What's on offer? 50% discount on all Oh Polly, Bo+Tee products Salary: £50,000-£55,000 Hours: Monday – Friday 9.00-5.30 (Flexible hours) Minimum 3 months contract Learning and Development opportunities Corporate gym membership Cycle to work scheme 25 days annual leave + an extra day for your Birthday Company Pension This Company is an equal opportunities employer Oh Polly job positions are open to all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
