Ensure that all reports produced are accurate, timely and presented in a user-friendly manner. Work closely with the Trust IT department on these issues when needed. Routinely audit data quality on the manual and electronic systems within the department to ensure high standards that comply with Trust and external governing bodies' requirements. Monitor performance against the data quality targets, taking remedial action where necessary. Take responsibility for data security and integrity. Establish backup systems for data within the department that comply with Trust systems. Ensure that the databases and data collection systems comply with confidentiality, Caldicott, data protection, and all other relevant (Trust and non-Trust) policies and procedures. Liaise regularly with counterparts nationally to ensure consistency of approach in data collection to facilitate audits across the centres in the UK. Represent the unit at relevant data management conferences in the UK or on a European basis. Keep up to date with developments in data collection for this service on a European basis through liaison with colleagues. Liaise with the suppliers of database systems regarding maintenance, requests for technical support and advice, and database development. Assist in the development of other database/information systems. Be responsible for the collection of data relating to patients treated within the department, particularly where the patient is entered onto a clinical trial. Act as a point of contact for regional, national, and international data queries. Ensure that Trust policy regarding Data Protection is adhered to. Assist the Trial Coordinator in all aspects of maintaining records of patients on trials and the regulatory issues that govern the management of clinical trials.
