Our client is a well-established software solutions provider that offers job security, a prosperous future as new business is currently agreed for fresh implantation and data transfer all the way until 2020!

It is becoming increasingly common, in modern IT, for clients to want to migrate their data when changing suppliers and after numerous high profile client wins - within the top 250 firms in the UK - our client has an exciting opportunity for a permanent and dedicated data migration/application support specialist.

The client offers a wide range of pre-defined migration routines each one is bespoke to each client to some extent. Also, increasingly they are seeing additional and multiple data sources that require merging into their systems at the same time as the main accounting information because clients are looking to consolidate onto one platform from distributed and diverse environments and applications.

The ability to extract data and import into SQL from other data sources is essential. This could be anything from flat files, Excel, Access, Paradox, Progress, Informix, Firebird SQL and other legacy 4GL’s and database engines. Once the data has been extracted it needs to be imported and transformed into the Microsoft SQL database structure.

The clients database currently has approx 900 tables and the biggest customer production database is approaching 1TB.

Your ability to interrogate and interpret SQL data is paramount, as is accuracy and attention to detail.

A data conversion must balance to the source database to the penny. Financial transaction tables can typically run into millions. The desired candidate will need to be able to work closely with other Applications specialists and other Technical specialists within the Development and Support teams.

Any experience with Microsoft .Net and/or VB6 (for our legacy applications) would be of advantage, these are the development environments for our current product set and conversion utilities, but this is not essential. #J-18808-Ljbffr
