Job Role : Data Migration Engineer Role Type: Permanent Location: Telford, UK Hybrid – 2 days’ work from Telford office Job Description : • Lead end-to-end data migration projects, including planning, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading, and validation. • Design and implement data migration strategies to migrate large volumes of structured and unstructured data across various environments (cloud, on-premises, hybrid). • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data architects, business analysts, and developers, to gather migration requirements and align data migration processes with business objectives. • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance during migration, adhering to GDPR and other data protection regulations. • Develop ETL pipelines using tools like AWS Glue, or similar technologies to automate data migration processes. • Optimize data migration performance through efficient data transformation, filtering, and mapping techniques. • Monitor data migration progress and resolve issues related to data quality, schema mismatches, or system compatibility. • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including migration plans, data mapping, transformation rules, and post-migration validation reports. • Conduct data validation and testing post-migration to ensure successful data transfer and accuracy in target systems. • Provided technical support and troubleshooting during the migration process, ensuring minimal downtime and business disruption. • Experience with database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, and proficiency in data modeling and schema design. • Expertise in cloud platforms like AWS Cloud for cloud-to-cloud or cloud-to-on-premises data migrations. • Implement data masking, anonymization, and encryption techniques to safeguard sensitive data during migration. • Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and auditing principles to ensure transparent and compliant data migration practices.
